JIST’s History
JIST, which stands for Job Information Seeking and Training, was founded in Indianapolis, Indiana, in 1981 by Michael Farr, America’s Career Expert. Initially, we provided career planning and job search training programs that educated professionals from human service agencies.
JIST evolved into a publishing company in 1986 when we published our first book, Getting the Job You Really Want, which is still one of our best-selling products. In 2007, JIST was acquired by EMC Publishing, LLC, an independent educational publisher.
